Graduation Requirements

Illiana’s classes are taught from a Christian perspective in order for students to see God in all subjects. Students must complete 48 credits, four years of at least six courses continuously, to receive a diploma. Most students exceed these requirements to be well prepared for college or a career. 

The following are the course requirements for students: 

• 8 semesters English/Language Arts
• 6 semesters Mathematics
• 6 semesters Science
• 7 semesters Social Studies
• 4 semesters Bible
• 1 semester Digital Applications
• 1 semester Family and Consumer Science/STEM 
• 1 semester Fine Arts
• 2 semesters Physical Education
• 1 semester Health and Wellness
• 11 Electives
  • 5 Directed (World Languages, Fine Arts, CTE)
  • 6 General (student choice)

Illiana meets the requirements set by the state for students to earn a Core 40 diploma. Below are the graduation requirements set by the state of Indiana: 

The Indiana State Board of Education adopts course and credit requirements for earning a high school diploma. Current course and credit requirements went into effect for students who entered high school in the fall of 2012 (Class of 2016). Students have the option of earning an Indiana Diploma with the following designation(s):

• General;
• Core 40;
• Core 40 with Academic Honors (AHD); or
• Core 40 with Technical Honors (THD) (Illiana does not yet offer this diploma).

To earn an Indiana Diploma, students in the graduating classes of 2019 – 2022 must:

• Meet course and credit requirements; and
• Pass the Graduation Qualifying Exam (GQE)/qualify for a GQE waiver; or complete the Graduation Pathways (if offered by the school).
