Happy Thursday!
This week we remember the death and resurrection of our Savior and with all that is going on, it is such a great reminder of what is most important. Paul says in I Corinthians 15: 1-4, “Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”
I love the phrase, “Of first importance”. There is nothing more important than the cross and the resurrection for us as Christians….nothing. That is what we celebrate this week and every week. I truly hope you find time in the midst of chaos, fear, and worry to remember what is most important and that is Jesus.
A couple of reminders:
- Next week Thursday night, April 16, we are going to live stream a Praise Crowd event on Facebook and Instagram at 7:00pm. We are still putting together the final details of that, but we invite everyone to tune in. We are all in this together.
- Along with our normal time of worship next Thursday, we are also going to introduce an “Awesome Things” competition for the students and maybe even you. Stay tuned to find out more next week but the basic idea is to share the Awesome Things of God with each other.
Finally, if you still want a #illianachristianstrong yard sign for your house or for your senior, please contact Jenna Dutton at jdutton@illianaweb.org. This is a great way to remind everyone we are in this together! I hope and pray this weekend is a time of renewed passion in the gospel as we celebrate our amazing Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for your passion for our mission at Illiana to raise young men and women in the gospel.
