DIRECTORY:  We do not publish a hard copy of the directory.  You can find the contact information for staff and families by going to:  ParentsWeb>School Information>Directory> use the sort options available for families and staff.

HOMEWORK:  Go to ParentsWeb>Student Information>Homework.  Also, you may email teachers for homework.  Our emails have all switched to Gmail this year and follow this pattern:  first initial followed by last name @illianaweb.org.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS:   We begin each day with announcements that are read to the student body in homeroom.  Announcements are also linked on the website:   www.illianachristian.org >My ICHS> Daily Bulletin.

SPORTS SCHEDULE CHANGES & UPDATES:  Updates will be sent via emails from a coach or athletic director, and can be found by going to our website and following the link for schedules on the athletic page.   Changes are usually posted by 2:00 p.m.

September 16 & 17:  Senior Retakes – Seniors who did not have their picture taken this summer will be able to sign up.

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT:  Parents are invited to come to school to visit the classrooms and meet their students’ teachers on Thursday, September 5, at 7:00 p.m.  Remember this is for parents only.

BAND CAR WASH:   The Illiana Christian High School Bands will be having a car wash at Munster CRC on September 14, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.   Donations will go toward the purchase and repair of instruments and the purchase of band supplies. We hope to see you there!

ICHS GOLF OUTING:  The Illiana Christian Golf Outing will be on Monday, September 16 at Briar Ridge Country Club in Schererville, IN. Please contact Darren DeBoer (219-558-7066 ext. 14 or ddeboer@illianaweb.org) with any questions or to sponsor the event.  Online registration is available through our website.

COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID NIGHT:   Parents of juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend the college financial aid night on September 30 at 7 p.m.  Important information will be given regarding the FAFSA form.

YEARBOOK:  The 2018-2019 yearbook, The Spire, will be available at the Spire party on Friday, October 4, at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium or at school the following week.  This is for the students who ordered the 2018-2019 yearbook last fall.  You can still purchase this yearbook for $68 at the party.  See Mr. DeVries or Mr. Kamphuis if you have questions.

PSAT:  The PSAT test for juniors will be given at ICHS on October 16.  The test is an optional test for junior students. Coaching dates are September 26, October 1 and 8.  All details will be given to students in September.  The fee for the test is $25 and the fee for coaching is an additional $25.  Students may sign up in the office with Mrs. Jonkman.  Any questions should be directed to either Mr. Zandstra (nzandstra@illianaweb.org) or Mrs. Benes (mbenes@illianaweb.org).

CAREER OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM:  Illiana’s Career Opportunity Program (C.O.P.) assists junior and senior students in exploring career opportunities by introducing them to their field of interest.  The guidance counselors will be explaining the program to them in the next few weeks, along with having them fill out an application of career interest.  Students will then meet with one of our C.O.P. volunteers before being scheduled to visit one of our many contacts in the career area in which they have indicated an interest.

FALL PLAY:  On November 7, 8, and 9, the Drama Department will present CLUE, a madcap comedy based on the Parker Brothers board game. The oddball characters will keep you laughing as the audience tries to guess whodunit.  Tickets will go on sale after fall break.

FOUNDATION FUND EARNINGS:  Please complete and return the form to the school office no later than October 31. Late forms will not be accepted.  If you choose not to claim this, your allocation will go to the Tuition Assistance Fund.

TUITION:  Tuition payments must be made by noon on the 15th of each month.  You are encouraged to participate in the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for your payments.

PARENTS INVOLVED in EDUCATION

Lunch ordering for the month of October will be open from September 1 – 10.  A reminder email with instructions will be sent each month.

During school hours all volunteers must stop in the office and get a Visitors Pass before heading to the kitchen. Park in the front of the school on the north side.

This year we will be selling the Golden Opportunities Coupon Books.  You may purchase them in the office or use the attached order sheet to send in with your child.  We are offering both the NWI book and the South Suburbs book.  They are $25 each.  With only a couple of uses, they will pay for themselves!

SPORTS NEWS

FALL CHEER TRYOUTS:  Our Fall Cheer tryouts are scheduled for September 3 – 7:30-8:30 p.m., September 5 – 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., and September 10 – 7:15 – 8:30 p.m.   If you have questions contact Coach Carisa Beezhold at 708-606-6208.

SPORTS TRAINER FEE:  The $50 trainer fee for fall sports will be added to your tuition account sometime this month.  This is a per-student/per-sport fee for all athletes.

ADMISSION PRICES FOR ALL INDOOR ATHLETIC EVENTS:    Adults:  $5.00, Students (with ID):  $3.00, Seniors:  $3.00, and Fall Family Pass:  $25.
